ACTION
This is your CALL to action!
Calling elected officials is more impactful than email or online petitions. Don't be scared—the actual official won't answer the phone. Typically, a staff member will take your message or you will get voicemail. Still nervous? Call after hours and leave your message on voicemail.
FIND. You have elected officials at the Federal, State, and Local levels. Find them here by entering your address. Some officials will have multiple offices; call any of them. You don't have to limit your calls to YOUR elected officials, you can call any elected official, especially if there's one who has been influencing the issue you care about.

PLAN. Write out what you want to say. Stick to one topic. You can talk about a specific bill or share a personal story that shows how the rubber is meeting the road at your end. This is also a good time to ask questions or thank them for supporting an issue. It can also be as simple as "My name is ____ and I am a voter from ___. I want Senator/Representative ____ to support ___. Thank you."
CALL. When you call, it's likely a staff member will answer, not the actual elected official. Sometimes you will get an answering machine or a directive to email or call back later. Still nervous about calling? Call after hours to be guaranteed voicemail.
REPEAT. Keep calling weekly and don't worry about being a bother. You are their boss! if you had an employee that needed to improve, you would continue to correct them, right? And if you had a great employee, you would continue to praise them. The more you call, the easier it gets.
